Container Gardens

Container gardens are a simple and easy way to boost curb appeal whether you live in your forever home or are getting ready to greet potential buyers for an Open House. These are plantings that are showcased in various types of containers that can be placed by your front door, front steps, back deck or around a pool. For businesses, containers and window boxes are a beautiful way to draw in and welcome customers or provide a touch of privacy for outdoor diners.

Containers are planted throughout the year beginning in late spring through late fall. You can choose to have your containers updated each season or pick the season(s) you prefer. During the winter holidays, you may want to add seasonal decor to liven up your entrance, such as garlands and wreaths, and these options may be added, as well.

Existing containers can be planted or I can help you choose the appropriate scale, color, material and style for new containers.

All materials are brought to your home or business and installed on-site. You will be provided with a list of the plants used in your garden and care instructions for watering, fertilizing and dead-heading, if necessary, to keep your display looking beautiful all season long.

Garden Audit & Consultation

Do you have shrubs in your yard and don’t know if they are azaleas or andromedas? I can help.

A Garden Audit & Consultation is a collaborative discussion where I meet with you and tour your yard and help to:

  • Identify unknown plants, shrubs or trees

  • Provide recommendations on plants to be transplanted or removed

  • Offer tips on pruning, reshaping of beds or the creation of new planting spaces

  • Recommend plants and shrubs that would work well in given soil and light conditions

  • Assess trouble spots and brainstorm possible solutions

This is particularly well-suited to the DIY gardener with a general knowledge of plants who is willing to get their hands dirty but just needs a little direction and guidance on how best to proceed.

garden Design

For homeowners who have yet to install garden beds or who are looking to update foundation plantings, sideyard beds or backyard perimeter beds, I offer garden design plans which build off of the Garden Audit & Consultation.

My design plans can be either a roadmap for homeowners to follow as they transform their own spaces or to share with their landscaper of choice. I’ve found that many homeowners are open to doing the work themselves or have an existing landscape contractor who can provide the labor but just need a basic plan to get started. My hope is that these options provide a more cost-effective way for homeowners to create the yard they envision.

Following the consultation and depending on your needs there are then two options:

Written Plan - With the written plan, I review the goals, preferences and style choices as discussed and provide an overview of the bed(s) to be installed or redesigned. I offer general guidelines on where plants should be placed within each bed and the number of plants required. I also include a full plant list with a link for you to familiarize yourself with the varieties I am recommending.

Written Plan with Drawings - With this option, I provide the full written plan as outlined above and include simple landscape drawings for each of the redesigned spaces. The drawings show placement of all plantings with each identified plant or shrub. This option is helpful for those for who might prefer or be aided by a visualization of the design in addition to the written description.
